Quartz lines and barnacles

Letterpress printed metal rule, wood letter, and Caslon in 12pt, 24pt, 36pt and 48pt

I had an idea to create an abstract print of a rock showing the layers of its history using rule, wood type and O’s and o’s from the Caslon cases. It didn’t really work out – trying to abstract myself from the rock made them feel dead. So I cut the prints into postcards – and now they show what it’s like to step from rock to rock when crossing the beach, never knowing which rock is solid and which may tip over! Home scars are the grooves that limpets create as they return time after time to their favourite spot on the rock. The scar fits each limpet’s particular shell exactly so they can make the perfect seal against the rock. Once the limpet dies the home scar erodes away. The barnacles come and go, according to storms, predation, and their extraordinary life cycles.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Make it stand out.
