Incoming tide

A set of three: letterpress printed Caslon in 24pt, 36pt and 48pt

As in Bristol, the tidal range at Bucks Mills can be enormous during spring tides. The sea rushes in visibly, almost sneakily. On the Gore, a spit of bare stones that juts out into the bay beyond the old quay, the tide can come in so quickly that you can be standing on dry land one minute, and ankle deep in water the next. This set of three prints is an attempt to show the flow of water as it floods towards the beach on a spring tide: some rushing towards the shore, and some creeping under the stones under your feet while you’re looking the other way!
